also just wanted to update that firefox and gmail are working properly for me again. i have no clue what the problem was. i thought it might have been java since that is what was causing the problems in firefox but when i updated it the situation didnt change. well now it just works fine. oh well as long as i can get my email and have no more problems i am not questioning it too much.
